I was given The Complete Book of Party Foods and Appetizers (written by Bridget Jones) as a gift, and was instantly amazed by its seemingly endless delicious party food and appetizer recipes, and astounded by its plethora of event planning tips and information it entails.
The book begins with a very in-depth and helpful party planning guide — the key to a successful party, of any nature. From planning a schedule and choosing a venue, to table setup and equipment lists, this book leaves no detail forgotten; a great help whether you are a seasoned party planner or not.
Next the book moves on to organizing the party foods (from cooking items ahead of time to garnishes), then it moves on to party themes, and finally party basics (like setting up cheese boards, presentation, and wine pairing) before diving into the elegant recipes.

I have personally made quite a few of the recipes from this amazing book for various types of parties. The recipes are very straight forward and easy to follow as they are filled with Layman’s cooking terms, and some include photos of the steps. Quite a few recipes are more intricate than others, so I feel this book would be a great addition to any kitchen, from the novice home cook to professional chef.
Some of the recipes I have tried include: Blue Cheese Stuffed Celery Sticks and Cherry Tomatoes, Eggs Mimosa (think deviled eggs with mashed avocado and Tabasco), Butterfly Prawn Spiedini with Chili and Raspberry Dip, and Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce.
