Sriracha

January 29, 2012 | Kitchen Must-Haves

Oh, Sriracha, how do I love thee, let me count the ways:
1. On sushi
2. In Pho
3. On fish tacos
4. On scrambled eggs
5. Oh hell, on just about everything!

If you are unfamiliar with Sriracha, it is a paste consisting of chili peppers, vinegar, sugar, salt and garlic.  It is a type of hot sauce which originates in Thailand.  You can use it as a dipping sauce, a hot sauce, just about any way you please.  It does have some heat to it.  You will often hear others refer to it as Rooster Sauce, or Cock Sauce (or as my mother calls it, Hot Cock Sauce) because of the rooster on the front of the bottle.

Sriracha is a requirement in my fridge.  When I get to a quarter of a bottle, that’s when I buy my backup, I love it that much.  Running out is not an option.

Here is a funny Sriracha cartoon from The Oatmeal I found rather hilarious.  It pretty much sums up my feelings towards Sriracha.  There’s even some merch available on there if you are a fan of the heavenly sauce as much as I am and want to show it off to the world.
