Avocado Peeler

Living in California, we were spoiled with the best avocados in the world.  So naturally, I am addicted to them.  I’ll have them on just about anything: burgers, sandwiches, wraps and sushi; deep-fried; and to make guacamole.  One day I came across this glorious and time saving little tool, Pampered Chef’s Avocado Peeler.  This tool has a blade-like edge, but it is blunt, so you will not cut yourself while using it.  The edge is thin enough to half the avocado with ease, then you can use the slightly angled end to dig out the pit, and then use the edge again to make your slices.  It is even effortless to make very thin slices.  For guacamole, I do a cross-hatch pattern across the avocado half then use the angled end to scoop out the flesh in one, swift move.  As you can see in the photo, the rounded end keeps you from piercing the avocado skin and allows you to cut the flesh all the way down to the skin perfectly.

If you love avocados like I do, $6.50 for this tool is a real bargain!

If guacamole is an item you like to make, check out the Mix ‘N Masher, also from Pampered Chef.  It is the perfect mashing tool which gives you flawless consistency in under 30 seconds.
